Popular Center |

Hertz Investment Group acquired the 150,000-square-foot Popular Center building in 1998. Currently it houses Banco Popular and the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency, as well as a number of diverse businesses. Banker, Herman W. Hellman, built this eight-story property in 1906, and the entire ground floor, with its white marble columns and staircases, and its decorative blue-and-white tiled floors, was once a bank. The foyer boasts a domed, stained-glass ceiling, an echo of the Popular Center’s original, turn-of-the-century magnificence. The Popular Center was sold by Hertz Investment Group in May, 2002.
