Oviatt Building
617 South Olive Street
Los Angeles, CA

The glamour of 1930’s Hollywood clings to this showcase Art Deco office building, built in 1928 by James Oviatt, renowned clothier to the stars. Exquisitely restored today, the historic 96,000-square-foot structure is also the home of the acclaimed restaurant, Cicada, whose romantic atmosphere can be reserved for private Oscar night celebrations, A-list parties and other special events. Visitors to the Oviatt Building are dazzled by its original period features, which include the world’s only surviving original installation of Lalique glass doors, as well as French marble, oak paneling, and hand operated elevators. This landmark building was added to the Hertz Investment Group portfolio in 1996 and was sold in December, 2003, for a substantial profit.
